Create and maintain quality actions

Update a quality action

When you update a quality action, it provides comprehensive options to modify quality records, including detailed properties, attachments, and relationships that are not available during initial creation.

Note

For quality action in Quality Master Data, you can update only the quality action that is not released.

Procedure

  1. Open the required quality action.

  2. Choose More Commands > Edit > Start Edit .

  3. In the Overview tab, in the Actions section, specify the required properties.

Specify Detailed Description to add in-depth details about your quality action in addition to the high-level details you provide in Description.

Specify Proposed Due Date to set the suggested target completion date. This date can be adjusted during the approval process before it becomes the official Due Date by which the quality action must be completed. Note When the quality action is assigned to a supplier in Supplier Quality Hub, this property is also carried forward.

Set the Effectiveness Score to measure how well the action is performed. You can set the score using either buttons or the slider.

  4. In the Action Setting section, select the Action Group to categorize quality actions for different areas.

  5. In the Properties section, specify the Priority of the quality action. The Priority indicates the urgency level (Low, Medium, High, or Critical) assigned to the quality action task.

  6. In the Notes section, add any additional comments or observations related to the quality action, including images, graphs, or links to related documents or resources.

  7. In the Properties section, specify Total Hours Spent on the action. The Total Hours Spent is the actual time that you have spent on the quality action. The Action days to closure is automatically updated based on the total hours spent.

  8. To track personnel who may not have Teamcenter accounts, such as shop floor workers involved in corrective tasks, in the External Users section, click Add , and then provide the details of the personnel such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers.
Example When a welding defect is identified, a shop floor manager needs to document which workers repaired the weld joints for traceability. In corrective action scenarios, the manager may need to assign related tasks where the manager performs root cause analysis and updates the quality report, while the worker re-calibrates the welding equipment to prevent recurrence.

Note The external users added in the External Users section, are not added as the assignee of the quality action.

  9. Choose More Commands > Edit > Save Edits .

What to do next

  • You can add dependent quality actions.

  • You must start a workflow for the quality action to track and record the progress of quality actions created from Explorer.
