Record the symptoms of an issue

A symptom defect is a defect used to record a symptom of an issue.

Example

You find an issue with the windshield wipers of a car. Some of the symptoms of this issue are:

  • Streaks appear on the windshield.

  • Wiper blades do not move smoothly when run.

  • Wiper blades make a rattling sound when run.

For each of the above symptoms, you can create a symptom defect and add it to the issue of the car wipers not working.

For each of these symptom defects, you can add the following:

  • Failure code from the failure catalog

  • Document and image attachments

  • Quality actions

  • Defective item

Note

To create a symptom defect, you must have a Problem Solving license.

Procedure

  1. From Launcher, click Changes .

If this option is unavailable, search for it. You can pin it from the search results for future access.

  1. From the CHANGES folder, select and open the required issue.

  2. Click the Symptom Description tab.

  3. In the Symptom Defect section, click Add.

  4. In the Name box, type the name of the symptom.

Note If Teamcenter Copilot Quality is available, you can prompt it to create suggestions for your quality data.

  1. In the Description box, describe the symptom.

  2. Enter the remaining properties.

  3. To add the required failure, do the following:

In the Failure section, click Add Failure .

In the Add panel, search for and select the required failure.

To remove a failure, select it and click Remove Failure .

To add the selected failure, click Add.

  1. Click Add.

  2. Repeat the above steps until you add all the required symptom defects.
